What does test and tag cost in Melbourne?
Every workplace is different, so we do not publish a single rate that would be wrong for most sites. Instead, here is exactly how a test and tag quote is built — so you can compare providers properly and know what you are paying for.

Pricing drivers
Eight things that change your quote
Give us these details up front and the quote you receive is the price you pay.
Number of items
The single biggest driver. Most quotes are built on a per-item basis, and the rate per item usually improves as the count rises. An accurate item count — even an estimate from a previous report — gives you the most accurate quote.
Number of sites
One large site is generally more efficient than several small ones. Multi-site businesses are usually quoted as a program so travel and setup are shared across locations rather than charged site by site.
Site layout and access
Equipment spread across many floors, locked rooms, secure areas or occupied workstations takes longer than a single open warehouse. Telling us the layout up front avoids surprises for both of us.
Access hours
Testing during normal business hours is the most cost-effective. Early starts, after-hours or staged visits to avoid disrupting trading can be arranged and are priced accordingly.
Location and travel
We are based in Scoresby and run regular routes across Melbourne, so most metropolitan suburbs are covered as part of a scheduled run. Regional Victorian sites are usually best bundled into a planned visit.
Services bundled together
Combining Test & Tag with RCD testing, emergency and exit light testing or fire extinguisher inspection in one visit is almost always cheaper than booking each separately, because setup and travel happen once.
First visit versus recurring
A first visit includes building your asset register from scratch. Later visits work from that register, so they are typically faster and more predictable.
Reporting requirements
Standard digital reports and asset registers are included. Client-specific formats, portal uploads or contractor management system entries can add a small amount of administration.
Included
What is always in the price
Reporting is not an optional extra. Every quote includes the records you need to keep.
- Digital compliance report after every visit
- Asset register for the site
- Failed-item register where applicable
- Tagging with test date and next due date
- Service summary by site or area
- Due-date reminders before the next cycle
- $20M public liability insurance
How to compare two quotes fairly
A lower per-item rate is not always the cheaper job. When you compare providers, check whether the quote includes the digital report and asset register, whether failed items are re-tested or quoted separately, whether there is a minimum charge or travel component, and whether the next due dates are tracked for you. Those four things are where the real difference usually sits.
Not sure how often you actually need testing? Use the testing frequency calculator to check the interval for your environment before you budget.
